DESCRIPTION:Primrose Crossing the Channel\n\nJo Macgregor\, sailed Primrose (a 21ft yacht) single handed across the English Channel to the Channel Islands\, then on to the Brittany Coast of France\, and ended up sailing up the River Rance to Dinan before making the long trek back to Poole. \nA feat daunting enough in a 30 foot cruiser with crew\, but in a 21ft boat single handed……..that would be truely daunting for many others. \nIt turned out to be a voyage of discovery starting with a successful\, and bold crossing of the English Channel\, followed by anchorage/marina hopping all the way to Dinan in Brittany\, France. \nCome and hear the story\, with a photo slide & video show to accompany the talk\, showing yachting from Jo’s point of view on a single handed boat adventure. \nThis will prove to be a facinating talk full of adventure and discovery\, and definately a talk to put in your diary. \nGet there early to enjoy a meal in the restaurant before hand and make it a full evening of enjoyable food and entertainment. \nCruising Section website\nBook Primrose Crossing the Channel

DESCRIPTION:Poole Young Carers Charity Quiz\n \n\n\n\n\n\nThe second quiz night run by Ray Smiths Poole Young Carers Trustees and hosted by Poole Yacht Club to raise money for Young Carers in Poole. \nPoole Young Carers is a small charity with a local focus run entirely by volunteers with no operating costs. \nOur purpose as a charity is to give children and young people in Poole who care for a member of their family every day some respite\, fun and support. In the words of the charity’s founder – to enable them to be “a child for a day”. \nFor more information please see our website \nPoole Young CarersOr charity number 1132518 registered with the Charity Commission in the name of Ray Smith’s Young Carers (Poole). \nSuggested team size is 6. \nIf you don’t have a team but would be happy to be joined up with others please let one of the trustees know when you arrive on the night and we will endeavour to link you up with another group! \nThe quiz will start at approximately 7:45pm\, there will be two parts to the quiz with an intermission in the middle and a raffle at the end. \nThe raffle will have a wide variety of prizes to be won\, strips will cost £5 each and while cash is preferrable we will be able to take card payments on the night. \nPoole Yacht Club have agreed to put on food\, for the event but we require approximate numbers to make sure there is enough\, when you come to purchase your ticket it will ask if you are intending to eat at the venue\, payment for any food will be made directly to Poole Yacht Club on the night. \nThe options will be Lasagne & chips\, either a traditional beef or vegetable (Both options were very well reviewed at the last quiz!) for £11 each. \nDrinks can be purchased from the licensed bar on premises. \nBook Poole Young Carers Charity Quiz

DESCRIPTION:The Joint Monday Lunches enjoyed by the Cruising and Classic Boat Section members\,but open to all club members. \nSome background information: \nWe started these lunches as a result from some of our older members at our 2021 Classic Boat Section AGM.\nA lot our members are reluctant at times to visit the club due to sometimes not knowing the members who are in the bar lounge at the time of their visit or they have lost their partners and friends in life and are now feeling rather lonely. These members once owned yachts and enjoyed the company of club friends during their younger club days. These friendships have been enjoyed over the years\, but time passes and circumstances have changed. Travelling at night can also be a problem for some not wanting to drive in the dark and some have suffered with the new LED lights on newer vehicles that tend to be so bright and very dazzling when driving.\nAs a result\, I decided with our committee to start these Get-Togethers once a month on each second Monday per month. Having run them now for 22 months these last two years they have been very successful\, and our members look forward to them. \nPlease can you advertise these lunches on the club website each month and also have a slot on the rolling TV screens in the club house. \nI also check with the office staff each month to make sure that the Skylight Lounge is free\,\nMondays being a fairly light day for any hire. DESCRIPTION:The Joint Monday Lunches enjoyed by the Cruising and Classic Boat Section members\,but open to all club members. \nSome background information: \nWe started these lunches as a result from some of our older members at our 2021 Classic Boat Section AGM.\nA lot our members are reluctant at times to visit the club due to sometimes not knowing the members who are in the bar lounge at the time of their visit or they have lost their partners and friends in life and are now feeling rather lonely. These members once owned yachts and enjoyed the company of club friends during their younger club days. These friendships have been enjoyed over the years\, but time passes and circumstances have changed. Travelling at night can also be a problem for some not wanting to drive in the dark and some have suffered with the new LED lights on newer vehicles that tend to be so bright and very dazzling when driving.\nAs a result\, I decided with our committee to start these Get-Togethers once a month on each second Monday per month. Having run them now for 22 months these last two years they have been very successful\, and our members look forward to them. \nPlease can you advertise these lunches on the club website each month and also have a slot on the rolling TV screens in the club house. \nI also check with the office staff each month to make sure that the Skylight Lounge is free\,\nMondays being a fairly light day for any hire.
