Sailability

After more than 30 years at its original location, Poole Sailability—an independent charity—has relocated its activities to Poole Yacht Club. Delivering around 1,000 sailing sessions each season, the charity provides people with disabilities and long-term health conditions the opportunity to enjoy time on the water in Poole Harbour. As an organisation affiliated with the Royal Yachting Association, this move further strengthens its connection with the Club.

Sailing is a unique sport that brings people together, builds confidence, and fosters a strong connection with the sea. Through the Sailability Sailors programme, Poole Yacht Club is proud to support an inclusive environment where sailors with disabilities can take part in activities alongside their families, friends, carers, and volunteers.

Sailability is a nationwide initiative dedicated to making sailing accessible to all, regardless of ability, experience, or background. At Poole Yacht Club, the programme offers far more than sailing—it creates opportunities to develop skills, build friendships, and become part of a welcoming and supportive maritime community.

Our Sailability activities are designed to provide a safe, enjoyable, and encouraging experience for every participant, while promoting independence, teamwork, and confidence on the water.
